The UK’s only touring festival returns once again for 2012 this Jubilee bank holiday weekend! Founded in Nottingham in the summer of 2005 and spreading to Bristol and Manchester; Dot to Dot festival has been the home to chart topping headliners and the new wave of breakout acts from around the globe. Previous acts to grace the stages at Dot to Dot include: The xx, Mumford & Sons, Florence & the Machine and Metronomy, placing them all squarely on the map. One ticket allows entrance into a plethora of the best live music venues available at each host city, which allows for any visitors to also get a great feel for the location they choose.
Heading the bill at this year’s festival is Brooklyn born surf-pop six piece The Drums, who will be sure to get the tempo racing with their intricate guitar riffs and bass lines reminiscent of Joy Division. Following on from the back to back success of their first two studio albums, they join Dot to Dot festival as part of a globetrotting world tour, and lead singer Jonathan Pierce’s stage dancing is a sight not to be missed.
Also Co-Headlining the bill this year is Pulled Apart By Horses. Hailing from Leeds the post-hardcore outfit fronted by Tom Hudson have been making waves in the industry leading to supporting both Biffy Clyro & Muse on their UK tours. Fresh off the release of their new album “Tough Love” they have announced an array of summer dates across the country and will be bringing rhythmic drums, pounding guitars & an electric live performance at Dot to Dot.
Other acts performing over the weekend include electro prodigies Neon Indian, whose pulsating beats gained a rousing reception at this year’s Coachella festival. They join Dot to Dot for an exclusively at the Manchester date in the middle of their summer tour culminating in a slot at Lollapalooza festival. Continuing her breakout year, Lucy Rose is coming to Dot to Dot on the back of touring across the Atlantic with Bombay Bicycle Club & Noah and the Whale. Lucy’s hypnotic and soothing folk vocals will surely have the crowds hotly anticipating her debut L.P.
Musical sensations from across the Atlantic include synth-rock trio Hooray for Earth who will be sure to get pulses racing with their own unique brand of psychedelia. Chicago born Willis Earl Beal will be sure to bring the festival goers under his own brand of acoustic charm when he debuts tracks from his new album “Acousmatic Sorcery”. Tipping the end of an American Trifecta is California’s very own Surf Punk Ensemble, Wavves. With critical acclaim, a new album incoming and a growing fan base, now is the time for Wavves to raise the roof of all three cities at Dot to Dot 2012.
